A-K Band Festival set Wednesday

The annual Alle-Kiski Marching Band Festival will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Yuhas McGinley Stadium at Penn Hills High School.

Schools participating in the non-competitive event include Apollo-Ridge, Burrell, Deer Lakes, Freeport Area, Highlands, Kiski Area, Leechburg Area, Penn Hills, Plum, Springdale and Valley.

Gates open at 6 p.m. Limited handicap parking will be available at 20 Valmartin Drive. All others should park in the main stadium parking lot, 12153 Harvard Drive.

Admission is $5, cash and checks only. There will be food, a bake sale, a basket raffle and 50/50.

Blues Attack to play free concert at Shrine Center

The free music series at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Pittsburgh Shrine Center pavilion, 1877 Shriners Way, will feature the band Blues Attack.

Gates open at 6 p.m. Rain or shine. Free parking and food and drinks will be available. No tailgating, outside food or beverages permitted. The weekly event is sponsored by Band Together Pittsburgh, Moondog’s and the Pittsburgh Shrine Center.

Free lunches available Thursday at Salvation Army

The Allegheny Valley Salvation Army and Community Center in Brackenridge offers free grab and go lunches from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays in parking lot at the center, 917 Brackenridge Ave.

Free grocery items from Walmart and Aldi will be available. Everyone is welcome.
